Remember the first day of high school? What a whole new world. Although it was MANY years ago for me I remember I was quite scared. You truly don't know what to expect and many of the friends you had in grade school were off to different schools and if they were in the same school as them you had to be lucky enough to get them in one of your classes. Attending the freshmen fest at Lake Forrest High School on Tuesday with the photo booth brought back the memories for me.
What is freshmen fest? I never heard of it either. In fact I was quite surprised when I got the call. We are quite accustomed to getting proms, dances and any functions around the spring at the end of the school year but we haven't had been to any in the fall.
One of the staff members of LFHS saw us at a graduation party earlier in the year and she thought what a great idea the photo booth would be for our freshmen fest! In fact LFHS hadn't had the Freshmen Fest in a couple of years and this sparked her interest enough to get the ball rolling not only on the photo booth but the whole event.
Basically its a night where all the freshmen get together before the school year to have fun. They had dinner, a scavenger hunt and the photo booth amongst other things. It looked like a great idea for the kids to get together before the school year. Who knows, perhaps it help take some of the edge off.
Interestingly, at first a lot of the kids thought the photo booth was for school ID's. Which is wasn't. We had to tell them it was for fun, haha. Overall it was a great night and quite an experience. We hope they do it again next year. Good idea?
I think that is such a great idea. The first day of high school can be intimidating and I am sure this allowed the students to all get to know each other outside of the classroom!
